Dinesh Kumar Khara for the new chairman of SBI has been recommended by the Bank board bureau. Dinesh Kumar Khara was appointed Managing Director of SBI for three years in August 2016. He was also one of the contenders for the post of chairman in the year 2017. Dinesh Kumar Khara may be the new chairman of the country’s largest bank State Bank of India (SBI).

The Bank Board Bureau has recommended his name. Khara is the senior-most managing director of SBI. The three-year tenure of SBI’s current chairman Rajneesh Kumar is going to end on October 7. Khara could replace SBI as its chairman. Here, the Bank Board Bureau (BBB) ​​selects the top officials of public sector banks and financial institutions.

The Bank Board Bureau said, “The Bureau recommends the name of Dinesh Kumar Khara for the post of Chairman of State Bank of India. The recommendation is based on their performance and overall experience. Also, C Srinivasulu Shetty will be in the list of reserved candidates for this post. The bureau’s recommendation of Khara’s name for the post of SBI chairman will now be sent to the government. After this, the Appointments Committee of the Prime Minister-led Cabinet will take the final decision.

Dinesh Kumar Khara was appointed Managing Director of SBI for three years in August 2016. He was also one of the contenders for the post of chairman in the year 2017. After reviewing his performance, he was given a two-year extension in 2019. Khara heads SBI’s global banking division.

Once Khara becomes SBI chairman, he will face many major challenges. The banking sector is going through a serious crisis due to the coronavirus epidemic. Significantly, SBI had made a provision of Rs 3,000 crore till June 30, 2020, for the possible damage caused by the coronavirus.
