Dr. Farooq Filed A Petition Against Attaching Assets By ED

Dr. Farooq filed a petition against attaching assets worth 12 crores: JKCA Scam Case.

National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah have filed a petition in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court against the attachment of assets worth nearly Rs 12 crore by the Enforcement Directorate.

The Enforcement Directorate ordered in December 2020 to attach the assets of Dr. Farooq Abdullah.

According to the Enforcement Directorate, Dr. Farooq misused his position and reputation as the President of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association from 2001-2011.

He voluntarily appointed several officials in the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. Dr. Farooq has challenged the order of the Enforcement Directorate in the court on Wednesday.

He has told the court that his assets of Attach have nothing to do with the FIR and the report in the related case. Attaching them is a violation of my fundamental rights.

Question on rights: MP Hasanain Masoodi, who is close to Dr. Farooq, said that the assets that have been attached are either inherited or acquired before the so-called scam.

He is not involved in any way with a criminal case or money laundering case. Dr. Farooq has also questioned the action of the Enforcement Directorate in this case.

He has stated in his petition that at the time of filing the Enforcement Commission Information Report called ECIR and the commencement of the investigation of the case, the state of Jammu and Kashmir had its own constitution in force.

Jammu and Kashmir were also privileged under the Indian Constitution. He told the court that the Enforcement Directorate had registered a case under Ranbir Panel Code on 28 December.

The Enforcement Directorate should have ascertained whether it had the authority to do so.

Market Value Rs 60-70 Crore: On December 19, 2020, the Enforcement Directorate issued a provisional order ordering attachment of certain assets of Dr. Farooq under the Money Laundering Act.

An appeal can be filed against the order of the Enforcement Directorate in six months.

ED has ordered the attachment of three houses of Dr. Farooq in Gupakar Road Srinagar, Katipora Tangmarg, and Bhatindi Jammu, besides a commercial establishment at Residency Road Srinagar, some plots at four other places.

According to government records, the value of the attached property is 11.86 crores. The market value is said to be Rs 60-70 crore.
