Unidentified gunmen attacked a community in the Plateau state of central Nigeria on Thursday, killing five people, local officials said on Saturday.
Police said in a statement that the five victims belonged to a family of the Fusa community in the state’s Jose East region.
Police tactical squads and a contingent of military personnel have been deployed in the area to track down the attackers, a leading news agency reported.
“We appeal to the residents of the state to help with credible information of the security personnel deployed in the area to help nab the culprits,” the police said.
