Hamas ready for talks

Hamas has made the decision after talks with other Palestinian factions that it wants to negotiate a ceasefire proposal. Islamic Jihad, a Hamas-affiliated organization, has also backed the talks, but has stipulated that Israel guarantees that attacks will not resume after the hostages are released.
The United States, Qatar, and Egypt mediated the last two ceasefires. This temporarily stopped the fighting and, in turn, led to an exchange of hostages and prisoners.

Israel strikes in Gaza

The Israeli army carried out attacks in several areas of Gaza. These include areas such as Gaza City, Khan Younis, and Rafa. According to Mohamed al-Mughayyir, the head of civil security in Gaza, these attacks killed at least 52 persons on Friday.

People waiting near U.S. aid centers in areas such as Rafah and the Wadi Gaza Bridge were also shot at, according to the report. The United Nations has warned that Gaza is on the brink of starvation and the situation is getting worse.

60 days ceasefire proposal

The U.S.-backed ceasefire proposal states that Hamas will release close to half of the surviving Israeli hostages during the 60-day cease-fire and that Israel will release Palestinian prisoners in return. There are currently 49 hostages in Gaza, 27 of whom have been confirmed dead by the Israeli military.
