Human Rights Commission Summons Maharashtra DGP
Human Rights Commission summons DGP on BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur’s complaint.
The Maharashtra State Human Rights Commission has issued summons to the Director-General of Police of the state.
The notice is in connection with the torture of BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, accused in the 2008 Malegaon Blast Case. The Human Rights Commission has asked the state DGP to appear before it on 6 April.
In this case, in 2018, lawyer Aditya Mishra complained to the National Human Rights Commission.
Actually, at that time, Pragya Thakur in an interview on TV accused the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of the state (Maharashtra) police of harassing them. The Commission then referred the matter to the State Human Rights.
Pragya Singh Thakur, accused in the September 29, 2008 blast case in Malegaon, northern Maharashtra, is currently out of jail on bail.
Six people were killed and over 100 injured when a bomb exploded on a bike near a mosque in the city. The case is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency. The case is on trial.
However, the hearing of the case has been stalled since March last year due to Corona-lockdown.
Pragya Singh Thakur along with six other accused in the case are Lt Col Prasad Purohit, Sameer Kulkarni, Ramesh Upadhyay, Sudhakar Chaturvedi, Ajay Rahirkar, and Sudhakar Dwivedi.
Some non-bailable warrants are not caught by some privileged people: Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the anticipatory bail plea of Muhammad Umar, son of former MP Atiq Ahmed, in the case of the kidnapping of a businessman in Uttar Pradesh and assaulting him in jail.
The apex court said that there are some such people in the country who are unable to catch the police despite non-bailable warrants.
A bench of Justices NV Ramana, Justice Suryakant, and Justice Anirudh Bose rejected Omar’s plea challenging the Allahabad High Court’s order of December 7, 2020.
The High Court also refused to grant him anticipatory bail. The apex court said it appears that the police (CBI) are not taking action against the accused.
The police have not been able to execute the non-bailable arrest warrant against Omar.
Explain that businessman Mohit Jaiswal had filed an FIR on December 28, 2018. In it, he alleged that he was kidnapped from Lucknow and then taken to jail.
He was attacked by jailed Atiq Ahmed, his son Umar and his other associates. Mohit was then strengthened to transfer his business to his name.
