Assam: 1040 militants laid down arms in front of Chief Minister in Assam, CM said – towards the extremist-free state.

The dreaded militant Ingti Kathar Sangbijit and 1,039 other militants laid arms before Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Tuesday to return to the mainstream.

These militants belong to five organizations, the People’s Democratic Council of Karbi Langeri (PDCK), Karbi Langri NC Hills Liberation Front (KLNLF).

Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT), Kuki Liberation Front (KLF), and United People’s Liberation Army (UPLA).

Sangbijit is the head of PDCK. Previously he was Commander in Chief of the banned National Democratic Front of Bodoland.

He was involved in many incidents of genocide in the former Bodoland Territorial Area Districts. Most of the people killed in these incidents belonged to the minority community.

Songbijit was marginalized after the NDFB’s Ranjan Damri faction kept a distance from the incidents. He then formed PDCK in the Karbi Anglong district.

Welcoming mainstream 1,040 militants who had surrendered in Karbi Anglong and West Karbi Anglong districts, Sonowal said his government was working towards making Assam a militancy-free state.

He said, ‘We are giving all possible help to the youth returning to society. We are also providing logistic support along with financial assistance.

We will continue this. ‘ The surrendered militants have also collected 338 weapons. These include 58 AK series rifles, 11 M-16 guns, and four light machine guns. A formal peace agreement will be signed with these militants within the next two days.

UP government told the Supreme Court – committed to ensuring the safety of MLA Mukhtar Ansari

The Bahubali MLA Mukhtar Ansari of Uttar Pradesh, who is lodged in Ropar Jail in Punjab, heard in the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The Uttar Pradesh government filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court and said that the UP government is committed to ensuring the security of the gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari.

Are going on The government requested that Mukhtar be sent to UP jail and the matter related to it should also be transferred to Prayagraj MP-MLA court.

However, the apex court has deferred the next hearing on the demand of the Punjab government till Tuesday i.e. March 2.
