Cloud Bursts near Amarnath Cave in Jammu and Kashmir have caused a major accident. In this incident, 10 people have died while many people are said to be missing.

NDRF Chief Atul Karwal said that the cloudburst was reported at around 5.30 pm in the lower reaches of the Amarnath cave.

Our 1 team is stationed near the cave, and that team immediately started the rescue work. According to our people present there, 10 people have died and 3 have been rescued alive.

Due to the cloudburst here, many tents including three anchors have been washed away in the strong flow of water.

After the incident, Amarnath Yatra has been postponed and teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed for relief and rescue work.

According to the IGP of Jammu and Kashmir Police, some langars and tents were washed away in strong water due to cloudbursts near the holy cave.

Relief and rescue work is going on at the spot and at present, the situation is under control.

NDRF, CRPF, BSF, and local administration are engaged in rescue work. Our priority is to save people’s lives. I wish all the devotees well.

Primarily, the relief and rescue work agencies are treating it as a medium-level accident. Apart from two companies of ITBP, two teams of NDRF are also deployed in relief and rescue work.

There were teams of rescuers near the tent, so more passengers could be saved. Relief rescue work is still going on.

After the cloudburst incident, the water started flowing rapidly between the tents. After this, there was an outcry among the devotees.

It is being told that the Amarnath Shrine Board will soon issue a helpline number so that the people whose families have gone on a pilgrimage can get information from them.
