The process of hitting Cyclone YAAS, which has taken the form of a very severe cyclone, has started in Odisha, which will last for 2-3 hours.

Yas has caused flooding of shops and homes in West Bengal, many kilometers away from the coast.
The storm will hit the coast near Dhamra, located between Baleshwar and Bhadrak district. During this period, the wind will move at a speed of 155-165 km per hour, which can reach up to 185 km per hour.
The Meteorological Department has issued a Red Alert (possibility of heavy rains) for Bengal and Odisha.
At the same time, more than 1.2 million people have been evacuated to safer places in Bengal and Odisha in view of the threat from the cyclone.
Preparations have also been stepped up for rescue in Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Odisha’s Special Relief Commissioner PK Jeena said that the process of landfall started around 9 am and would continue for 3-4 hours.
It is expected that the cyclone will be fully reached by around 1 pm. During this time the wind speed is estimated to be 120–140 km per hour.
At the same time, wind speed in Mayurbhanj district is estimated to be around 100-110 kmph. After that, it will slowly slow down.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the very severe cyclonic storm Yas is centered about 50 km south-southeast of Balasore in Odisha.

According to the Meteorological Department, Cyclone Yas will hit Odisha coast this afternoon.
