India Was Bundled Out For 78: James Anderson Looked Happy
India was bundled out for 78: Ind vs Eng. James Anderson looked happy after bowling out the Indian team for 78 runs, said – it happens sometimes.
England’s bowlers may have dominated the Indian batsmen in the third Test on Wednesday, but pacer James Anderson admitted such opportunities are rare in the match.
On the first day of the third Test, England’s bowlers put up a strong performance to bundle out India for 78 runs in the first two sessions.
No Indian batsman could even touch the 20-run mark. Even 9 batsmen could not cross the double-figure.
At a virtual press conference after the first day’s play in Leeds, James Anderson said: “With both the ball and the bat, we did what we wanted to do.
It doesn’t get much better than I don’t think. The bars don’t come, so you just have to be happy when they come.” England had dismissed Australia for 98 in the Boxing Day Test in 2010.
Anderson said he was keen to bowl during that match but wanted England to bat if Joe Root had won the toss on Wednesday.
Anderson said, “The only difference with Melbourne is that I was inclined to bowl there and I was not there today for some reason.
I was trying to entice Joe Root to bat when he won the toss. I think He was leaning towards a bowl, but we’ll never know.”
After India was bundled out for 78, openers Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed ensured that England won the honors on the first day of the third Test.
England’s score at stumps was 120/0 and the hosts have taken their lead to 42 runs. Burns (52 runs) and Hameed (60 runs) are currently unbeaten at the crease for England.
Anderson said, “I couldn’t be happier for him (Hameed). Ever since he has been back in the Test set-up, you can see how much he has worked on his game, how he has become a better player.
One thing that he has always had is the right temperament for international cricket and we saw that today (Wednesday) he played well.”
