SC Orders One Week Stay On Dismissal Of IPS Officer Satish Verma

SC orders one week stay on dismissal of IPS officer Satish Chandra Verma, involved in Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case.

The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Centre’s decision in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case for a week. The Center had ordered the sacking of IPS officer Satish Chandra Verma.

In fact, a senior IPS officer cooperated with the CBI in the investigation during the investigation of the case. For this, the officer was ordered by the Delhi High Court.

On August 30, the Center directed the removal of Verma from service in the alleged Ishrat Jahan encounter case in Gujarat. Please inform that Verma was to retire on 30 September.

Permission to challenge Center’s decision in Delhi High Court.

A bench of Justices KM Joseph and Hrishikesh Rai allowed Verma to challenge the decision in the Delhi High Court.

It also said that in the matter, the High Court will decide whether the IPS officer has to continue in his post or the decision to remove him will be continued.

If the disciplinary action is biased, it will not be enforced without the permission of the court.

After this again the Central Government moved to the High Court and sought permission for disciplinary action to sack Verma.

But the court said that the order would not be implemented till September 19, 2022. After this decision of the High Court, Verma approached the Supreme Court.

It is noteworthy that from April 2010 to October 2011, IPS officer Verma investigated the Ishrat case. For this, he got directions from the High Court.
