Indian Army Bolsters Firepower on Chinese Border: The Indian Army strengthens its combat capabilities on the Chinese border by deploying advanced weaponry like K9 Vajra and Dhanush cannons. DRDO is progressing in hypersonic missile development, aiming to enhance India’s defense with long-range systems like Nirbhay and Pralay.

The Indian Army bolstered its force and stationed cutting-edge weaponry along the Chinese border, while the DRDO worked on developing hypersonic missiles. On the Chinese border, the Indian Army is working to improve its combat capability with the support of its artillery units. The army has acquired many weapons, such as surveillance systems, group drones, and 100 K9 Vajra cannons.

Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar, Director General of Artillery in the Army, said that various equipment is being procured to increase the capacity of artillery units given the national security challenges. We are modernizing at a pace that has never been achieved before, according to Adosh Kumar, ahead of the Artillery Regiment’s 198th anniversary on September 28.

Several 155 mm gun systems, such as the K9 Vajra, Dhanush, and Sharang, have been placed in place to give the army more firepower along the northern frontier. The army has already deployed 100 K9 Vajra cannons. At the same time, the process of purchasing 100 more cannons is ongoing.

Adosh Kumar said that the K9 Vajra guns were bought primarily for deployment in the desert area, but after the standoff in eastern Ladakh, the army has deployed a large number of these guns in these high-altitude areas. He went on to say that other 155 mm gun systems, such as the Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System, Mounted Gun System, and Towed Gun System, are also being introduced.

India is developing hypersonic missiles

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is in the process of developing hypersonic missiles for the military forces. Hypersonic missiles can fly at a speed of five Mach or five times the speed of sound. The army is now planning to include long-range cruise and ballistic missiles.

These include the Nirbhay with a range of 2,000 km and the Pralay missile with a range of 400 km. Director General of the Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar said that the army is also considering long-range rockets and is planning to increase the range of indigenous Pinaka rockets to 300 kilometers in the coming time. The army has received approval from the Defense Acquisition Council to acquire Pralay and Nirbhay missiles.
