The Kerala High Court has asked the Center to allow the second dose of covishield after four weeks.
The court in its direction has said that those who have taken the first dose of the Covishield vaccine and want to take the second dose before the current stipulated interval of 84 days.
They should be allowed to book the second dose on the Co-win portal four weeks after taking the first dose.
Justice PB Suresh Kumar said that the central and state governments can allow those traveling abroad to choose between quicker and better protection from COVID-19.
There is, therefore, no reason not to grant equal privileges to those seeking early security in respect of employment or education.
“The central government may make necessary changes in the Co-Win portal so that people can take the second dose of covishield vaccine after four weeks of the first dose as per the initial protocol,” the court said.
The petition had sought permission to give the second dose of covishield vaccine to its employees without waiting for 84 days.
