Anil Deshmukh Used To Get Transfer-posting Done illegally

Anil Deshmukh used to get transfer-posting done illegally, Former Chief Secretary of Maharashtra said in front of ED.

The troubles of the former Maharashtra Home Minister are increasing. Former state chief secretary Sitaram Kunte has added to the troubles of Anil Deshmukh.

Kunte told Enforcement Directorate (ED) that Deshmukh used to send lists of police officers to him through his personal secretary for illegal transfer and posting, which he believes was a compulsion.

Anil Deshmukh is already on the target of ED and CBI in the case of recovery of Rs 100 crore.

The ED has also arrested him. Now after the disclosure of the former Chief Secretary, the chances of Deshmukh getting bail have been reduced further.

Kunte has told the ED during interrogation on December 7 last year that Anil Deshmukh, while being the Home Minister, used to send a list of police officers to him for transfer and posting.

This list was brought by Deshmukh’s personal secretary Sanjeev Palande.

Sitaram Kunte, who was then holding the responsibility of Additional Chief Secretary (Home), used to read this list orally to the members of  PEB, and accordingly, the officers were transferred and posted.

That is, the meetings of the PEB were only for food. Kunte has admitted before the ED that Deshmukh was older than him in position and status.

Therefore, it was obligatory for him to obey his orders.

Let us inform you that this matter of interference in transfer-posting was also raised against Deshmukh by former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh in March last year.

In this, he had cited a report by former state intelligence chief Rashmi Shukla.

Rashmi Shukla was the head of the intelligence department in the state police during the formation of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in the state.

He got the phones of some people tapped only with the permission of the then Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Sitaram Kunte.

Based on this he prepared a report and sent it to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Sitaram Kunte, and the then Director General of Police.

In this report itself, Anil Deshmukh was accused of interfering in the transfer-posting of police officers.

It is alleged that instead of taking any action on this report, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had sent it to Anil Deshmukh.

After Parambir Singh mentioned this report in the High Court, the High Court had ordered the CBI probing Deshmukh to investigate the matter as well.

Whereas the state government wanted that the transfer-posting case should be kept separate from the 100 crore case against Deshmukh.

According to the ED, Deshmukh used to prepare this list of transfer-posting of police officers along with another cabinet minister of the state government.

At present, the name of that minister has not been disclosed.
