Mahatma Gandhi Death Anniversary: ​​Gandhi’s ashes were flown in the Sutlej river, Gandhidham was built-in memory.

After the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on 30 January 1948, his ashes were immersed in the holy rivers flowing at different places in the country on 12 February 1948.

The ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were also flown in the Sutlej river, which flows in the heart of the Ludhiana Jalandhar district.

Gandhi’s ashes were then flown in Sutlej near Phillaur and later the government established Gandhidham at this place.
