Intel preparing for semiconductor unit in India, IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav welcomes Intel in India.

American chipmaker Intel has expressed its intention to manufacture semiconductors in India.

Intel is planning to make semiconductors in India and this was indicated by Intel’s foundry service president Randhir Thakur in his tweet.

On Tuesday, Thakur, in his tweet, congratulated the Ministry of Electronics and IT on the announcement of incentives from semiconductor design to manufacturing.

He expressed happiness over the efforts of the Government of India towards making electronics and semiconductor hubs.

In response to his tweet, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Intel is welcome in India.

Earlier this month, the government had announced an incentive of Rs 76,000 crore to encourage semiconductor manufacturing in India.

According to IT, ministry sources, detailed guidelines will be issued for companies wishing to make this semiconductor at the beginning of the new year.

Interested companies will be able to apply within three months after the guidelines are issued. The Tata group, including electronics giant Samsung, has also shown interest in semiconductor manufacturing.

Although a formal announcement has not been made by Intel to make semiconductors in India yet.

But according to sources, Thakur, who tweeted on behalf of Intel, is associated with chip manufacturing.

In response to his tweet, Vaishnav said the tweet is indicating that Intel has made up its mind to make semiconductors in India.

Recently, Intel announced an investment of $7 billion to expand its semiconductor manufacturing capacity in Penang, Malaysia.

Now Intel can change its mind after the announcement of incentives by the Government of India.

According to sources in the Ministry of Electronics and IT, India wants to start manufacturing semiconductors with the US, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan.
