Kashmiri Pandits Demand Reservation In J&K Assembly
Kashmiri Pandits demand reservation in J&K Assembly. Valley return is possible only if Kashmiri Pandits are represented in the assembly says Shadilal Pandita of Soan Kashmir.
In 1989, when the situation in the Valley worsened due to terrorism, Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee.
But even after passing 32 years, these Kashmiri Pandits could not return to the valley. Even today these people are living their life by living in different parts of the country.
Kashmiri Pandits demand reservation: A large number of Kashmiri Pandits are also living in Jammu and Udhampur.
Shadi Lal Pandita, a representative of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, says that unless Kashmiri Pandits are represented in the assembly, the return of the Valley is not possible.
Shadi Lal Pandita said that every time in the assembly elections, they cast their votes from the special polling station set up in Jammu for their area.
But the winning representatives do not come again to listen to the Kashmiri Pandits.
This is the reason why now Kashmiri Pandits are demanding to reserve five seats of the assembly for Kashmiri Pandits.
They say that the participation of Kashmiri Pandits in the assembly should be ensured. When the Kashmiri Pandit reaches the assembly, he will be able to raise the voice of the community there.
The votes which were being cast till now for various assemblies in the valley were of no use. Now we need our representative in the assembly.
These days discussions are taking place in Kashmiri Pandit organizations regarding the whole matter.
Shadi Lal Pandita says that Kashmiri Pandits are troubled for 32 years, but they are not being listened to. There are no plans to return to the valley.
All this is happening because there is no one to listen to us. Unless there is an echo in the assembly of Kashmiri Pandits, the Valley of Kashmiri Pandits will not be able to return.
Kashmiri Pandits demand reservation: That’s why we are asking for reservations in assembly seats.
At the same time, Panun Kashmir President Virendra Raina said that the delimitation is happening and that something good will happen to Kashmiri Pandits.
We are sincerely hopeful that some seats will come under the share of Kashmiri Pandits. Now if the voice of Kashmiri Pandit society is to be raised, then we must have representatives in the assembly.
