Khalistani supporters are not deterred! Got a befitting reply in Toronto, Indians waved the tricolor in front of the protesters.

Amid tight security, a protest in support of Khalistan (Khalistan Rally) was held outside the Indian High Commission in London on Saturday. The protest rally had relatively low attendance.

Only 30 to 40 participated in the demonstration and the program passed off without any incident.

The protest comes at a time when there has been an increase in attacks by pro-Khalistani groups in several countries, including Britain and Canada, Australia, and the United States.

According to the news agency, controversial posters inciting violence were used in the rally with pictures of Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami and Consul General of India in Birmingham, Dr. Shashank Vikram.

The police presence was evident throughout the protest, which ended earlier than expected. Protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission from 12:30 to 14:30 (local time).

According to the media, meanwhile, security has been increased in the area with the presence of the UK Police.

Earlier this week, amid a spate of anti-India attacks and posters by Khalistani extremists on social media channels, the UK government announced that any direct attack on the Indian High Commission in London was unacceptable.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said “This violence against our diplomats and inside our diplomatic facilities abroad is unacceptable and we condemn it in the strongest words”.

India’s Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, on Sunday, inspected the security measures at the embassy’s premises and annex ahead of the proposed pro-Khalistan rally.

In Canada, a few hundred people protested outside the Indian consulate in Toronto on Saturday to protest the alleged killing of a pro-Khalistani leader in the Vancouver area last month.

The protesters accused the Indian government of being responsible for the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a wanted terrorist on several counts.

Khalistani supporters had proposed a pro-Khalistan rally outside the Indian High Commission in Ottawa on 8 July. The protesters carried Khalistani flags and raised slogans of ‘Khalistan’.

Leaving the Toronto suburbs, he arrived in front of the Indian Consulate, where about 50 people in support of the Indian government were already ready to answer him.
