Labor Reforms in India: 40 crore workers in the unorganized sector to get security, three labor bills passed by Lok Sabha. The much-awaited new Labor Bill was passed in the Lok Sabha. The new labor law will provide a variety of new facilities for both organized and unorganized workers in the country.

It will be mandatory to give an appointment letter to all the workers. Their salary will have to be paid digitally. Health checkup of all workers has also been made mandatory once a year. At the same time, many provisions have been brought to make entrepreneurs’ business easier.

The Lok Sabha passed it by voice. Whereas today it can also get approval from Rajya Sabha. In the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union Labor Minister Santosh Gangwar introduced the Code of Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (OSS).

Code of Industrial Relations, and Social Security Code and said that for the first time in the history of 73 years, such changes were made in the labor law Going which will prove beneficial for both employer and workers.

The wage code has already been notified. The old 29 laws are integrated into these four codes. There has been a lot of politics in the past about migrant laborers. In such a situation, Gangwar counted the benefits given to the workers one by one.

Previously, workers brought from one state to another by contractors were expatriates, but when workers from other states were hired by employers with self-employed workers, they would be categorized as migrant workers and would be given the OSH Code Will get the benefit.

To keep the data of migrant laborers, a labor bureau will be created under which all migrant workers will have detailed information. Data of migrant laborers will be taken from all states and departments. Under the new law, all migrant workers will be provided with the facility from the government to visit their original residence once a year.

With their will, women workers will be able to work in the night shift as well. Fixed-term staff will also get all the facilities like permanent workers. Even an employee working on a one-year contract will get a facility like a gratuity. Currently, gratuity is paid only after working for at least five years.

Social Security Fund will be created for about 40 crore workers working in the unorganized sector. All districts of the country will have the facility of ESIC. Workers working in hazardous areas will inevitably be attached to ESIC. Unorganized sector workers will be able to get their electronic registration done on the basis of self-assessment.

An employee will be entitled to compensation in case of an accident while coming to and from work from home. Employees will also be able to add their grandparents to the dependents. With this, entrepreneurs will now have to register only one to run the unit.

Now they have to do six types of registration. As such, entrepreneurs will have to file only one return for following all types of labor codes. Currently, eight types of returns have to be filed. Labor inspectors will not go to inspect the unit without being told.

The unit will be randomly inspected in a faceless manner. Entrepreneurs getting such facilities in labor law will go a long way in attracting foreign investment. Many countries of the world consider India’s current complex labor law as a hindrance to investment.

Making labor law easier for employers will encourage work from home culture. The entrepreneur will be able to work in any corner of the country with a single license.
