LeT And JeM’s Close, ISI’s Favorite Is Hurriyat’s New Chairman
LeT and JeM’s close, ISI’s favorite is Hurriyat’s new chairman Masarat, who is currently imprisoned in Tihar: Militancy In Kashmir.
Masarat Alam, a close aide of terrorist organizations like LeT and JeM and poster boy of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, was elected chairman of the radical faction of Hurriyat Conference.
Various separatist parties involved in the Hurriyat Conference have elected him as their new chairman.
With this, the speculation about the political successor of the late Hurriyat hardline leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani also ended.
Masrat Alam, a resident of Zaindar locality of Srinagar, is currently lodged in Tihar Jail. He may have been one of Geelani’s stalwarts, but the late hardliner never promoted him as his political successor.
Geelani wished that his close aide Syed Abdullah Geelani sitting in POK should be given the next command of Hurriyat.
Geelani’s family was also in favor of Syed Abdullah Geelani, but the Hurriyat constituents stood with Masarat Alam.
Masarat, a student of Kashmir’s prestigious missionary school in Lal Chowk, is the chairman of the Muslim League.
He was first caught in anti-national activities in 1990. He has spent more than 25 years in jail in total and is currently lodged in Tihar Jail.
He was arrested in April 2015 for taking out an anti-national rally by extremist leader Geelani on his arrival in Kashmir from Delhi.
Alliance with terrorist organizations: Masarat has deep nefarious alliances with separatists, ISI, and terrorist organizations.
In 2007, when separatism was starting to subside in Kashmir, he took out a rally challenging the Mirwaiz Maulvi Umar Farooq of the Hurriyat of the other faction.
After this Masrat was caught. When released in March 2008, he again conspired against the country. That was the time of the Shri Amarnath Bhoomi Movement.
It was only after his arrest that the violent protests stopped in the year 2010.
Challenged to Salahuddin, Pakistan wanted to run away: Once Masarat openly challenged the chief commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, Mohammad Yusuf alias Salahuddin.
During the violent demonstrations of 2008, he burnt the posters of Salahuddin.
During this time it was also reported that he is being called to Pakistan so that ISI can give him some big conspiracy work. Before he fled to Pakistan, he was caught by the police.
LeT and JeM’s close aide: The Hurriyat chair was vacant for 15 months.
The post of chairman of radical Hurriyat Conference was lying vacant in June 2020 after Syed Ali Shah Geelani disassociated himself from Hurriyat and resigned from the post of chairman.
Various constituents of Hurriyat wanted to appoint the chairman at the same time, but this could not happen due to a lack of green signal from ISI. Geelani passed away on September 1, 2021.

The font used in the posters distributed by Masarat during the violent protests in 2010 was the same as that used in the posters distributed by Naxal leader Kishan Ji. The printer used for both was also the same.
