The major reshuffle in the Indian Army has happened due to the vacancies of several key posts. Vice Admiral Ravneet Singh took over as the Deputy Chief of Naval Staff on Tuesday.

The post is still held by Vice Admiral MS Pawar who retired on 31 May. Ravneet Singh joined the Indian Navy on 1 July 1983. He has held many important responsibilities in his long career.

Meanwhile, Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair took over as the Director-General of the Assam Rifles. Pradeep Chandran Nair has rich experience of Assam Rifles and North East.

He had earlier served as Inspector General and Company Commander in the same force. In another important posting in the Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Dinesh Tripathi took over as the Chief of Staff.

Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani took over as Chief of Materials. Vice Admiral Kiran Deshmukh was appointed Controller Warship Production and Acquisition.

Lt Gen Manoj Pandey took over the crucial Eastern Command of the Indian Army based in Kolkata, while Lt Gen Ajay Singh took over as the Commander-in-Chief of Andaman and Nicobar.

The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) is crucial to the Army’s planning as it is the only model for synergy between the three services in the country.
