After the rumor spread during Durga Puja in Bangladesh, the continuous attacks on the Hindu community are not taking the name to stop.

Many temples and houses have been damaged in these attacks.

At the same time, a rights group has reported that there have been about 3,721 attacks on the Hindu community in Bangladesh in the last nine years.

2021 has been the deadliest year ever in the last five years, according to the Ain O Salish Center.

At least 1,678 cases of vandalism and arson have been reported on Hindu temples, idols, and places of worship in the same period, the Dhaka Tribune reported, citing a report published online.

In addition, 18 Hindu families have been attacked in the last three years.

Rights activists say the number of attacks could be even higher, as the media only covers the larger cases that come to light.

The worst in the last nine years was in 2014 when 1,201 houses and establishments of minorities were vandalized by miscreants.

According to the rights group, around 196 houses, trading centers, temples, monasteries, and idols were also vandalized by the end of September this year.

Meanwhile, rumors of the Quran’s copy being desecrated in Comilla triggered a series of communal attacks against minorities in Bangladesh, resulting in the death of several people.

According to the report, Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Unity Council has claimed that around 70 people have been injured in the attacks.

While about 130 houses, shops, business centers, or temples have been vandalized in the recent violence in the country.

Most attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh this year: Recently, communal violence erupted in many places in Bangladesh after rumors about Quran spread on social media.

Several places of worship were vandalized in the areas of Chandpur, Chittagong, Ghazipur, Bandarban, Chapainwabganj, and Maulvibazar. Many people were also injured in these clashes.

A person named Jatan Kumar Saha was also killed and 17 others were injured in an attack during Durga Puja celebrations on Vijayadashami in Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali district of the country on Friday.
