PV Sindhu And Srikanth Reached 2nd Round Of Germany Open
PV Sindhu and K Srikanth reach the second round of the Germany Open badminton tournament.
Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and World Championship silver medalist K Srikanth started with victories at the Germany Open Super 300 badminton tournament to advance to the second round.
Seventh seed Sindhu defeated world number 11 Busanan Ongbamrungphan of Thailand 21-8, 21-7.
At the same time, Srikanth defeated France’s Bryce Leverdez in three games in the first round. Eighth seed Srikanth won 21-10, 13-21, 21-7.
It was Sindhu’s 15th win against a Thailand player, while Srikanth made his record 4-0 against Leverdez. Sindhu will next face either Spain’s Beatriz Corrales or China’s Chiang Yi Mann.
Srikanth could not play the India Open Super 500 tournament in January due to a Corona infection. He will now face China’s, Lu Guang Xu.
Srikanth’s record against him is 2-0.
Meanwhile, the Indian mixed doubles pair of Sai Prateek K and N Sikki Reddy, however, lost 19-21, 8-21 to top seeds Dechapol Puvaranukroh and Sapsiri Terattanachai of Thailand in the opening round itself.
Earlier, Sindhu dominated from the start against Busanan in women’s singles and registered a win in just 32 minutes.
Sindhu soon led 11-4 in the first game, while there was no looking back after leading 7-5 in the second game.
On the other hand, Srikanth made a good start early to take a 19-8 lead and won the first game easily.
In the second game, the Frenchman made a comeback but in the deciding game, Srikanth regained the momentum and won.
Final matches continued till late at night.
In the 4th Martyr Nayak Nawab Singh Memorial Shooting Championship organized at Munawwar Mansoori Rifle Club, the participants hit a lot of targets.
Shooters in various events entered the finals and the title clashes continued till late on Tuesday.
