Quad Naval Exercise: An Initiative To Surround China

Quad naval exercise in the Indian Ocean, initiative to surround China.

In the same week, two French ships named Tonner and Frigate, when they reached the Kochi port to take part in joint exercises, discovered the importance of strategic partnership between India and France.

These ships also took part in joint exercises to be led by the French Navy in the Bay of Bengal.

In 2018, the President of France outlined its Indo-Pacific strategy in this context and considered the security, stability, and development of the region to be essential for world peace and prosperity.

The navies of India and France carried out joint patrolling in the Indian Ocean’s Reunion Island last year. The island is a foreign territory controlled by France in the Indian Ocean. It is also close to Madagascar and Mauritius.

France is a strong naval force in the Indian Ocean with bases in Abu Dhabi, Djibouti, Mayotte, and Réunion Islands, as well as nine military bases in French Pacific Polynesia and New Caledonia in the southern Pacific Ocean.

This year France became the 23rd full member country of the Indian Ocean Rim Association, which increases France’s responsibility to take the Indian Ocean out of the realm of the monopolistic mindset of countries like China.

Quad naval exercise: Along with this, the Varuna naval exercise in the western Indian Ocean between India and France is to be completed in the last week of April.

This shows that France, along with India and other countries of thought, is giving priority to ocean security.

India’s maritime diplomacy is getting stronger with the completion of naval exercises with various countries, as well as the necessary capability to become India’s Blue Water Navy.

Just last month, the first virtual meeting of the leaders of the Quad member states took place in which the most prominent issue between the Heads of Government of India, the US, Japan, and Australia was the security of the Indo-Pacific region and the Sea Vision of India.

Meanwhile, the way India and other members expressed positive thinking about the Covid vaccine, maintained the Quad as a positive and inclusive thinking forum, with member countries including climate change, maritime security, critical technology cooperation, and supply.

Discussing the systems, it presented itself as a multidimensional group on the balancing block towards China. Australia said that the 21st century belongs to the Indo-Pacific region, which will determine the fate of the world.

Ocean Cooperation: India has carried out exercises such as Malabar and Rimpack with large powers for the purpose of providing awareness, vigilance, and indirect warnings for the protection of the Indian Ocean and the Indian Pacific region.

India also conducts war exercises with the US for a special purpose. India has also concluded the War Games with Singapore and Thailand in the Andaman Sea on the lines of the Malabar Joint Exercise.

On the other hand, in December 2020, in the South China Sea, along with Vietnam Navy, the passage exercise was also done by India in the name of ocean cooperation.

All these exercises increase mutual trust and mutual understanding between the navies of the two countries. Helps in developing counter-terrorism capability.

But more than that, it gives an opportunity to collectively counteract the nature of some nations by unauthorized exploitation of ocean resources.

At present, China’s attention is on China’s polymetallic exploration of the western Indian Ocean.
