Serial Killer Arrested In Hyderabad Was Out Of Jail

Serial killer arrested in Hyderabad was out of jail even after carrying out 21 serious cases.

On reliable information, police officers from the Task Force North Zone team commissioned along with Rachakonda police on Tuesday caught the most wanted serial killer Maina Ramulu.

The police unearthed two cases of murder against him, one case of Mulugu Police Station, one case of Siddipet Commissionerate, and one other case against Ramulu of Ghatkesar Police Station, Rachkonda Commissionerate.

Serial killer arrested in Hyderabad: Ramulu was earlier arrested in 21 cases, of which 16 were murder cases, four were property cases and one was a case of escape from police custody. He was a convict and was later released after an appeal in the Telangana High Court.

Hyderabad city police commissioner Anjani Kumar told reporters, ‘On January 1, 2021, complainant Kavala Anathaiya, a resident of Hyderabad, came to the Jubilee Hills police and lodged a complaint about his wife Kavala Venkatamma (50), who died on December 30, 2020.

She was missing since 8 am. Task Force, North Zone Team, Hyderabad City Police started working to locate the missing women.

Later on 4 January, 2021 Venkatamma’s body was found near the railway track of Ankushpur village, within the boundary of Ghatkesar police station. ‘

Kumar further said that accused Ramulu was born in Kandi Mandal in the Sangi Reddy district of Telangana. When he was 21 years old, his parents married him, but within a short time, his wife moved in with another man.

He has since launched a rage against women and started executing serial murders of women. Since 2003, he has committed 16 offenses. The accused has also been involved in property theft cases.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Ranga Reddy District sentenced accused Ramulu to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 500 on February 21, 2011.

Kumar said that during his life imprisonment in the Central Prison Cherlapally, he was admitted for treatment at the mental hospital, Argadda on 1 December 2011.

Later, he fled the mental hospital on the night of December 30, 2011, along with five other prisoners. In this regard, a case was registered against the absconding prisoners.

After fleeing, accused Ramulu committed five more murders within the limits of Bowenpally police station (two cases), Chanda Nagar police station (two cases), and Dundigal police station (one case). He was arrested by Bowenpally police on 13 May 2013 in five cases.

Following this arrest, he was released from jail on October 3, 2018, following an appeal petition in the Telangana High Court.

Kumar said that he still did not change his attitude and committed two murders again, one at the border of Shamipet police station and the other at Patancheru police station.

He was arrested again and sent to judicial custody. Later, he was released from Central Jail, Cherlapally on 31 July 2020.

Thereafter, on 10 December 2020, the accused went to the Tadi complex in Bala Nagar (Cyberabad) and trapped an unknown woman, aged between 35 and 45 years.

He convinces her to take liquor with him and offers to pay a hefty amount to have a relationship. He took him to a different area on the border of village Japta Singayapalli of Mudgup police station in Siddipet.

Both consumed alcohol, after which the accused strangled her with a saree and brutally murdered her, and escaped from the scene of the theft by stealing silver items from the deceased.

Later, on 30 December 2020, he implicated another woman, Kavala Venkatamma (50) from Yusufguda Todi Compound, within the boundary of Jubilee Hills Police Station and took them to a different area in Ankushpur village border of Ghatkesar Police Station.

After consuming alcohol, he brutally murdered her with a boulder and ran away with her valuable property.

Kumar said, ‘Task Force, North Zone team along with Ghatkesar police verified about 500 CCTV footage at all possible locations from Yusufguda Todi Compound to Ankushpur railway track, Ghatkesar and also verified the working of the accused person. And on 26 January, the culprit was identified as Ramulu.

The accused is being handed over to the Station House Officer (SHO), Ghatkesar Police Station for further investigation. ‘
