Seven Indians Kidnapped In Libya, Efforts Are On To Free Them

Seven Indians kidnapped in Libya, foreign ministry trying to get released. Seven Indians were kidnapped in Libya last month and India is in contact with Libyan authorities for their release.

The abducted Indians include people from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The hijacked Indians worked in the oil company there. Seven Indians have been kidnapped in Libya. Efforts are on to free them.

This information was given by the Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday. The ministry said seven Indians were kidnapped in Libya last month and India is in contact with Libyan authorities for their release.

The abducted Indians include people from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh. The hijacked Indians worked in the oil company there.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that these Indians were abducted on September 14 from the Asahverif area when they were going to Tripoli Airport to catch a flight to India.

He said the kidnappers have contacted the employer and showed their photos that they are all safe. He said that the government is in touch with the family of these people and would like to assure that we are doing everything possible to liberate our citizens as soon as possible by negotiating and coordinating with the Libyan authorities and employers.

Explain that an advisory was issued by the government in September 2015 for not going to violence-hit Libya. In May 2016, the government imposed a complete ban on visiting Libya. This travel ban still continues.
