Tejas Has The Ability To Give A Befitting Reply To The Enemy

Tejas has the ability to give a befitting reply to the enemy, the strength of the IAF will increase with its inclusion. Recently, there was a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

It approved the purchase of 83 indigenous Tejas MK-1A jets to increase the number of air force aircraft fleet. All these aircraft will be purchased from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

This is the first purchase in the country designed, developed, and exported under the new defense procurement policy released last year.

Tejas is the first such indigenous fighter aircraft in India, in which more than 50 percent of its components are reserved in India. In its MK-1A category, 60 percent of indigenous equipment and technology will be used instead of 50 percent.

The cabinet has also given its consent for infrastructure development at the Air Force Base Repair Depot. This will enable the maintenance and repair of fighter aircraft inside the depot easily.

It is clear that now the production of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) at HAL will strengthen the self-defense campaign as well as the country’s defense industry.

Due to this purchase proposal, about 500 MSME companies in the design and manufacturing sector will also get work. Due to this, many youths of the country will get employment. Thus, this program will also pave the way for the development of advanced aircraft systems in the country.

These 83 aircraft being purchased under the deal include 73 LCA Tejas MK-1A fighter aircraft and 10 Tejas MK-1 training aircraft. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense had approved the purchase of 40 Tejas jets.

In this way, the Air Force will now have 123 Tejas aircraft. The first consignment of 83 aircraft is likely to be delivered to the Air Force in 2024, while the entire consignment is targeted to be completed by 2029.

The Indian Air Force should have a total of 42 squadrons to respond to the challenges of the enemy, while our Air Force currently has only 30 squadrons. Be aware that a squadron of the Air Force consists of 16 to 18 aircraft.

After the completion of 83 Tejas from HAL, the Air Force fleet will be increased by at least four squadrons. Tejas currently has a total of two squadrons in the Air Force and after acquiring 83 new Tejas fighter aircraft, their number will increase to six.

In addition to these 123 jets, the Indian government is also considering approving the purchase of 170 Tejas Mark-2. Tejas Mark-2 will be equipped with new technology and an advanced engine.
