The Decision To Withdraw US Troops Can Have An Impact

The decision to withdraw American troops can have an impact on both sides: Afghan President Ashraf Ghani told US President Joe Biden.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said he has warned US President Joe Biden that the decision to withdraw US troops could have implications for both sides. However, he did not ask Biden to delay the return.

Ashraf Ghani said during remarks in Washington that President Biden’s decision is a transformative decision that could have a huge impact on the people of Afghanistan and the American people in the region.

Ghani further said that discussions with the US have been very fruitful and that countries in the region should support the Afghan government and not other forces to remain in power.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said Biden has made it clear that the US will continue to provide security and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

In addition, the Afghan President announced that Afghan security forces had taken control of several Taliban-held districts in southern and northern Afghanistan.

Ghani called on the Taliban to a ceasefire and return to the political process. He said the Afghan government needed to manage the consequences that would emerge after the US withdrawal.

The Afghan people must be ready to face the challenge. Biden and Ghani met at the White House at a time when US troops are leaving Afghanistan after more than two decades of military operations.

America has already withdrawn more than half of its troops from Afghanistan. There will be a massive withdrawal of troops by July, long before the September 11 deadline.

The White House on Friday made several announcements to provide aid to the South Asian country amid the withdrawal of troops.

This includes donating three million doses of Johnson & Johnson’s Corona vaccine to the people of Afghanistan through the Covax facility.
