After violence broke out in protest against the Waqf Amendment Act in the Jangipur area of Murshidabad district, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made serious allegations against the government of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of the state. . Clashes broke out between protesters and police, leading to stone-pelting and setting police vehicles on fire. Opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari posted a video on the social media platform X, showing the violence and damage to public property in the area.

Suvendu Adhikari claimed in his post that criminal elements were involved in burning public property and setting police vehicles on fire. He said that the state government is busy doing ‘vote bank politics’ and has completely failed to maintain law and order. Adhikari further charged Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister, with concealing the truth and remaining silent on the matter.
The officials have called on the Home Ministry and the Chief Secretary of State to deploy central forces in light of the violent situation. Suvendu Adhikari said that the police seem unable to handle such chaos and only central forces can maintain law and order. He also said that this violence can be called ‘destruction’, which is completely unconstitutional.
Amit Malviya, the head of the BJP’s IT department, attacked Mamata Banerjee, saying that while she is quick to protest and cry when violence breaks out in other states, she stops talking and shuts down internet services to stifle the truth when her own “vote bank” causes chaos in Murshidabad.
