Twenty Three militants of the National Liberation Front surrender in Assam, Chief Minister said – a welcome step.

In Assam, 23 militants of the National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) surrendered on Thursday. These include the leader of the organization and the top commander.

Twenty Three militants, led by self-proclaimed NLFB chief M Batha, laid down their arms in front of state parliamentary affairs minister Pijush Hazarika at an event in western Assam’s Lalpani.

Hazarika welcomed the return of the militants to the mainstream. He said that at the request of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the NLFB members have returned home.

Former Assam Chief Minister and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said in a tweet, “The surrender of its cadres including NLFB chief M Batha is a welcome step.”

It is a symbol of people’s faith towards peace and development in Assam and Northeast under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

For this, I congratulate Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
