CBI raids at many places of Karti Chidambaram: CBI raids at many places including the office and residence of P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram.
The CBI on Tuesday raided the house of Karti, son of former Union Minister P Chidambaram. These raids have been done at his residence in Sivagangai and Chennai, apart from Delhi and Mumbai.
This raid by CBI has been done in a money laundering case. There are many cases going on against Chidambaram’s son.
These include the case of INX Media getting FIPB (Foreign Investment Promotion Board) clearance, which is related to about 305 crore foreign funds.
This is the case when Chidambaram was the Finance Minister. In view of these, this raid has been done.
Sources say that the investigating agency has registered a new case against Karti which is related to money received from abroad. This money was received during the year 2010-14.
Significantly, in March this year, the trial court, after the hearing in the Aircel-Maxis deal case, had granted bail to Karti Chidambaram and allowed him to go abroad.
The case was registered by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram are accused in the case filed by the ED.

The Supreme Court has expressed deep displeasure over the non-release of the accused despite bail and being in jail for two years.
The judge of the lower court of Andhra Pradesh misunderstood the bail order of the Supreme Court and did not release the accused.
Supreme Court summons high courts.
The Supreme Court has asked the Andhra Pradesh High Court to seek clarification from the judge concerned.
Along with this, the Supreme Court, taking cognizance of such cases across the country, has summoned the details of cases of non-release despite bail from all the High Courts.
The Supreme Court has directed the High Courts to submit the details in six weeks.
These orders were given by a bench of Justices UU Lalit, S Ravindra Bhat, PS Narasimha, and Sudhanshu Dhulia last week.
