J&K Police to Acquire Ultra-Modern DSMDs to Boost Anti-Terror Operations
J&K Police to Acquire Ultra-Modern DSMDs: Jammu and Kashmir Police is set to strengthen its counter-terror strategy by purchasing 50 advanced Deep Search Mine & Metal Detectors (DSMDs) to detect IEDs and explosives. These modern tools will enhance road safety, anti-terror ops, and citizen protection in sensitive border areas.
The fight against terrorism will get more edge, and police are going to buy these ultramodern weapons. Taking a step towards ultramodernization, the Jammu Kashmir Police is going to buy 50 ultramodern Deep Search Mines and Metal Detectors (DSMD).
These DSMDs will be effective in increasing the capacity of Jammu Kashmir Police from maintaining law and order to fighting the proxy war sponsored by Pakistan. DSMDs are capable of detecting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other hidden explosives and metals.
A senior officer of Jammu Kashmir Police said that DSMDs will be used to make roads safe on various routes, especially in sensitive areas, and to detect explosives during search operations.
DSMDs are very important for the policemen posted in Rajouri-Poonch, Doda-Kishtwar, and border areas. In these areas, there is a strong possibility of terrorists planting landmines and IEDs to prevent security forces from coming towards their hideouts or to target the patrolling parties of the security forces.
Security forces squads equipped with DSMD will be able to protect both themselves and the citizens by destroying these hidden threats. These will also increase the striking capability of the Jammu and Kashmir Police. DSMD will further sharpen the anti-terrorist operations of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The tender for their purchase process has been issued, and it will be by the standards approved by the Union Home Ministry in the year 2018. The Directorate General of the National Security Guard (NSG) has played an important role in setting the standards for DSMD.
After the purchase process of DSMD is completed, they will first be made available to the bomb disposal squads and QRT squads of Jammu and Kashmir Police deployed in areas affected by terrorists.
J&K Police to Acquire Ultra-Modern DSMDs: These DSMDs will further strengthen the strategy of the security forces to be proactive against terrorism.
These will be used only for checking them before allowing movement on roads, movement of security forces and VIP convoys on various roads, and in anti-terror operations.
The concerned officials said that the process of purchasing DSMD will be completed under the supervision of an SP rank officer in charge of the Police Control Store. They said that these DSMDs are being purchased under a scheme launched by the Union Home Ministry for the modernization of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The Jammu and Kashmir administration has also constituted a six-member high-powered committee under the chairmanship of the Finance Commissioner of the Home Department to decide the measures for the modernization of the Jammu and Kashmir Police.
