Army Bike Riders Reach Dras, Pay Tribute To Kargil Martyrs

Army bike riders reach Dras, pay tribute to Kargil martyrs: Kargil Vijay Diwas 2021.

Four motorcyclists, led by Army’s Northern Command chief Lt Gen YK Joshi, reached Drass on Friday to pay homage to the martyrs of the Kargil War fought with Pakistan 22 years ago.

These teams had originated from Udhampur, Srinagar, Nowshahra in the Rajouri district, and Leh. Lt Gen YK Joshi is the hero of Kargil and he won the Vir Chakra in this war.

A team of 91 riders on 75 motorcycles from four cities assembled in Dras on Friday to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and his 75th year of independence.

These teams were welcomed at Drass by Major General Nagendra Singh, GOC of the Army’s 8 Mountain Division.

Talking to reporters on Friday evening after reaching Drass, Army Commander Lt Gen Joshi said that I have fallen in love with this area and people after posting in Ladakh.

The people here stand shoulder to shoulder with the army. He assured that the army would be ready to make every sacrifice for the security of Ladakh.

Joshi, who received the Vir Chakra by fighting as a lieutenant colonel in the Kargil War, has also commanded the Army’s 14 Corps, which was responsible for the security of Ladakh.

Before becoming the Army Commander. He has spent a lot of time in Ladakh.

A team of 25 motorcyclists led by Lt Gen YK Joshi had left from Udhampur, the Northern Command Headquarters of the Army, on Thursday.

Army bike riders reach Dras: Meanwhile, motorcyclists leaving Leh, Srinagar, and Nowshahra in the Rajouri district also left for Dras.

At Dras, all these teams merged with the party led by the Army Commander.

This Dhruva Kargil Ride was organized to pay tribute to the martyrs of Kargil and to inculcate the spirit of patriotism among the youth.

The team of Leh completed two phases: A team of 15 motorcyclists of the Army’s Fire and Fury Corps arrived from Leh, traveled from Leh to Daulat Beg Oldie in the first phase, and from Leh to Dras in the second phase.

After this, tribute was paid to the martyrs of the army at the Drass War Memorial.
