Army Chief General Naravane said – Aware of Bangladesh’s efforts to not give place to terrorist groups.

Army Chief General MM Naravane said India is aware of Bangladesh’s efforts to deny space to terrorist groups carrying out subversive activities against India.

In his pre-recorded speech at an event organized here on Wednesday to mark 50 years of Indo-Bangladesh ties.

Army Chief General Naravane said in his pre-recorded speech that the “LBA” between India and Bangladesh showed how the border issue can be resolved through a ‘positive attitude and dialogue’.

Without naming any country, Naravane said, “That too at a time when ‘some countries’ are trying to forcefully change the status quo by violating international rules and laws, in complete disregard for the territorial integrity of other countries.”

The event, held at the India International Center on Wednesday, was hosted by the Center for Land Warfare Studies, Delhi.

Naravane said Bangladesh’s counter-terrorism stand is in line with “India’s resolve to combat all forms of terrorism”.

He said that India will also continue to work to stop terrorist organizations from using its land to undermine the interests of Bangladesh.

The event was attended by Bangladesh High Commissioner Mohammad Imran, former Bangladesh army chief Haroon-ar-Rashid, some retired officers of the Indian military forces who contributed to the 1971 war between India and Pakistan, and senior defense officials.

“India and Bangladesh have come a long way in the last five decades and our friendship has stood the test of time,” the army chief said.

Later he arrived at the function and released a new book titled ‘Bangladesh Liberation at 50 Years:’ Bijay with Synergy, India-Pakistan War 1971′.
