Army will be equipped with Artificial Intelligence, and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will launch 75 newly developed products.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will present 75 defense products powered by Artificial Intelligence.

As part of India’s celebration of 75 years of independence, these 75 products will be presented for the first time at the ‘Artificial Intelligence in Defense’ symposium and exhibition to promote self-reliance in the defense sector.

The event will be organized by the Department of Defense Production, Ministry of Defense on July 11 at Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital.

According to the news agency, the event will feature an exhibition to showcase cutting-edge AI-enabled solutions developed by services, research organizations, industry and start-ups, and innovators and the launch of AI products for the market.

Giving details about the event, Defense Secretary Ajay Kumar on Friday said that it is a mega event.

75 newly developed AI products/technologies, and applications in defense, will be presented as part of celebrations to mark 75 years of Independence.

To be launched as ‘Azadi Ka Amrit’ Mahotsav’ and to promote the ‘Self-reliant India’ initiative in defense.

Artificial intelligence will play an important role in all areas of modern warfare

“The nature of modern warfare is changing now and AI will play an important role in warfare,” Kumar said. These products are being tested and will soon be deployed for the security of the nation.

He further added that the domains of products include automation/unmanned/robotics systems, cyber security, human behavior analysis, and intelligent surveillance systems.

Logistics and supply chain management, speech/voice analysis and command, control, and communication.

Computer and intelligence, surveillance and Espionage Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems and operational data analytics.

Presently 75 products are being launched and apart from these another 100 products are in various stages of development.

In addition, two top defense exporters from the public and private sectors will be honored during the event.

During the press conference, Additional Secretary Sanjay Jaju, while answering a question, said that defense exports have crossed the highest ever figure of Rs 13,000 crore in the financial year 2021-22.

in which 70 percent contribution is made by the private sector and the remaining 30 percent is the contribution of the public sector.

It is worth noting that the AI ​​Task Force was set up in the year 2018 to provide a road map for the promotion of artificial intelligence in the defense sector.

Taking further action on its recommendations, a Defense AI Council headed by the Defense Minister is leading the program.
