Assassination attempt on Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Three youths who tried to assassinate Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb were arrested, the CM narrowly escaped.

Three persons have been arrested for attempting to assassinate Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Deb had a narrow escape on Thursday evening when a speeding car broke through his security cover and entered. One of his security personnel was injured in this.

Police said on Saturday that Chief Minister Deb Shyama Prasad had gone out for a walk on Thursday evening near his official residence on Mukherjee Lane.

During that time three persons in the car entered his security circle. As the car passed by Deb, he swiftly moved aside. One of his security personnel got minor injuries in the incident.

The CM’s security squad tried to stop the car, but could not be caught. According to the police, three persons were arrested from Kerchaumuhani in the city. Their car has also been confiscated.

The three accused were produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate PP Pal on Friday, from where they were sent to jail on a 14-day remand.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Bidyut Sutradhar told that the age of the three accused is above 20 years and nothing is known about their motives yet. Police will try to ascertain his intention during interrogation.

According to the news agency, a police officer said that the incident took place during the Covid night curfew, and the three youths not only violated curfew rules but also illegally broke six police barricades.

Assassination attempt on Tripura Chief Minister: Apart from this, a policeman who tried to stop these three drunken youths were also attacked.

The trio was booked on various charges including speeding driving, obstructing government servants on duty, intentionally injuring government employees, and attempting to assassinate the Tripura CM.

The police have now confiscated the car and their mobile phones and are raiding their homes and other places.
