Austria beat Ukraine 1-0 in the Euro Cup knockout for the first time.

Christoph Baumgartner scored a lone goal as Austria beat Ukraine 1-0 in Group C on Monday to make it to the Euro Cup knockouts for the first time.

To reach the knockouts, both teams needed only a win to avoid an if-but situation, and Austria was successful in this.

Austrian coach Franco Foda made two changes in the playing XI to bolster his attack against Ukraine after their loss to the Netherlands in the previous match.

He replaced Marko Arnatovic, who was leading the team’s attack.

At the same time, Ukraine made two changes in the playing XI. The Austrian team played aggressively from the beginning of the match.

The team’s players were mostly camped at Ukraine’s goalpost in the first half. The team got the advantage of this in the form of a goal in the 21st minute.

Austria’s David Alaba sent the ball to Ukraine’s goal post with a corner kick and Christoph Baumgartner, standing there, made no mistake in pushing it into the goal post.

After this, Christoph got injured on the field and coach Foda called him back from the field. Then in the 42nd minute, Austria had a good chance to score, but this time the team could not take advantage of it.

Marko Arnatovic sent the ball from inside the box towards the goal post, but the ball did not go inside the post. Austria led 1-0 in the first half.

In the second half, Ukraine’s team kept making opportunities to return to the match, but they could not take advantage of them.

Ukraine could not break into Austria’s defense in the second half and the team had to pay the brunt in the form of defeat.

Great win for the Netherlands:

In the other match of the day, the Netherlands thrashed North Macedonia 3-0.

The Netherlands team has reached the first knockout and from this match, they have got good practice for the upcoming matches.

The Netherlands top the table with nine points, while Austria finished second with six points. Ukraine finished third with three points, while North Macedonia finished fourth.

Macedonia could not register a single victory. It did not take long for the Netherlands to take the lead in the first half.

Daniel Mellon sent the ball towards Memphis Depay and he took the ball to its rightful place in the 24th minute to give the Netherlands a 1-0 lead in the match.

The first half was in the name of the Netherlands. In the second half also the Netherlands continued their scoring streak.

Depe failed to score in the 51st minute, but Georginio Waynaladam scored from his good pass to take the team’s lead 2-0.

Then the pair of Deepa and Waynaladam scored another goal seven minutes later to take the team 3-0. This time also Wayanaladam scored with the help of Depay. In the end, the Netherlands won 3–0.
