Avalanche in Uttarkashi: Two killed, 21 people stranded in Uttarakhand due to avalanche, help sought from Air Force.

Avalanche in Uttarkashi: 29 trainees are trapped in the crevasses (big rift in the middle of the glacier) after Nim’s training team was hit by the Avalanche in Draupadi’s Danda.

A rescue operation is being conducted towards Nim to remove them. Eight trainees trapped in Cuevas have been rescued. While 21 people are still trapped in the crevasses.

Nehru Mountaineering Institute (NIM) was undergoing basic/advanced training since September 22 at Dokrani Bamak Glacier.

A total of 122 people including 97 trainees, 24 trainers, and an officer of NIM were involved in basic training.

Whereas a total of 53 people including 44 trainees and 9 trainers were involved in the advanced course.

29 trainees were trapped in crevasses due to avalanches.

During the training, 29 trainees got trapped in the crevice due to the avalanche near Draupati’s danda. Nim has rescued eight people trapped in the crevasses in Draupadi’s Danda.

While 21 people are still trapped in the crevasses. A rescue operation is being conducted by Nim to remove them.

District Disaster Management Officer Devendra Patwal said that a rescue operation is being conducted by NIM to rescue the people trapped in the crevasses.

NIM has two satellite phones at the site of the incident. Continuous coordination is being done with the officials of Nim for the rescue operation.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.

The Chief Minister said that 28 trainees of Nehru Mountaineering Institute, Uttarkashi have been reported stranded due to an avalanche in Draupadi’s Danda-2 mountain peak.

After talking to Union Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, he has been requested to take the help of the army to speed up the rescue operation.

For which he has assured us to give all possible help from the central government.

Rapid relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the District Administration, NDRF, SDRF, Army, and ITBPK personnel along with the team of Nim to get the trainees out safely at the earliest.

Death of two trainers.

Colonel Amit Bisht, Principal of Nehru Mountaineering Institute said that Draupadi’s avalanche has come during her training in the Danda area.

In which two trainers have died. Other injured are being rescued. He told that the airport has also been contacted.

The incident of breaking the iceberg came to the fore near Chorabari Glacier.

Seven kilometers behind Kedarnath Dham, the avalanche was seen for the second time on Saturday, October 1, although it did not cause any damage.

Earlier on September 22, an avalanche was seen behind the temple.

For the study of which a five-member team of scientists from Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Dehradun has reached the spot.

Teams of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and SDRF are also camping in Chorabari and monitoring there continuously.
