Villagers come down on Rajouri-Poonch highway this morning in protest against the death of a resident of Rajouri in a grenade attack on a newly opened liquor shop in district Baramulla on Tuesday evening.
These villagers raised anti-government slogans by staging a protest on the highway.
They are demanding Rs 25 lakh for the family of Ranjit Singh, a resident of Bakra, who was killed in the grenade attack, and a government job for one member of the family.
The villagers say that until a senior official of the administration comes here and assures them of this, the process of dharna demonstration will continue.
There has been a long jam of vehicles due to the villagers coming down on Rajouri Poonch Highway.
Although senior police officers are present on the spot and trying to convince the villagers, people remained adamant that Ranjit was the only support of his family.
In such a situation, after his death, his family will become courtiers. In such a situation, it becomes the duty of the government to help Ranjit’s family financially.
Let us tell you that on Tuesday night in Baramulla, North Kashmir, a terrorist wearing a burqa like a woman attacked a liquor shop with a grenade.
A salesman working at the shop was killed and three others were injured in the attack. One of the injured is still in critical condition. This liquor shop in Baramulla opened only about a week ago.
There is only a distance of about 20 meters between this shop and the DIG office of the North Kashmir range.
Security personnel cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to nab the terrorists.
Let us inform you that in Kashmir, various terrorist organizations including the terrorist organization TRF, Kashmir Tigers, Kashmir Freedom Fighters, Lashkar, and HM have threatened liquor shops.
According to the information, at around eight o’clock at the night, there was a crowd of buyers at the liquor shop in Diwanbagh of Baramulla.
During this, a motorcycle came and stopped there. A terrorist was sitting behind the motorcycle wearing a burqa.
He got down and went to the liquor store. Others present there thought that there was a woman and they backed down.
The burqa-dhari pulled out a grenade and threw it inside the shop window and then fled on a motorcycle with his accomplice.
Four salesmen inside the shop were injured in the grenade blast and there was chaos.
On hearing the sound of the blast, the security personnel presents nearby reached the spot. He took the four injured people to the hospital, where the doctors declared an injured Ranjit Singh dead.
All four salesmen are residents of the Jammu division. The deceased Ranjit Singh was a resident of Bakhar village of Sunderbani in district Rajouri.
While the injured include Govardhan Singh and Ravi Kumar, both residents of Bilawar (Kathua), and Govind Singh, a resident of Kangra (Rajouri).
Govind Singh’s condition remains critical and he has been brought to Shere Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (Saura) for better treatment.
Baramulla SSP Rais Mohammad Butt said that the terrorists involved in the grenade attack are being identified.
He denied the confirmation of the burqa-clad terrorist and said that investigation is going on now. Some clues have been collected from the spot, soon the terrorists will be caught.
Attack on liquor shop after 10 years: There has been a terrorist attack on any liquor shop in the state after about 10 years.
Earlier on November 5, 2011, one person was killed and four others were injured in a terrorist attack on a liquor shop in Dalgate, Srinagar.
After this, on 17 November 2011, terrorists attacked a liquor shop with a grenade in Narwal Bala, on the outskirts of Jammu.
One person was killed and about 15 people were injured in this attack. Both these attacks were carried out by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists.
