Cyclone Asani: Asani storm will knock with heavy rain and strong wind, will affect most parts of the country.

The low-pressure area that has formed in the Bay of Bengal for the last few days is likely to prevail today and there is every possibility of the arrival of cyclonic storm Asani.

In view of the loss of life and property, even the army has been put on alert. Fishermen from Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been denied access to the sea.

Andaman administration has started evacuating local people from low-lying areas. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Andaman.

Army personnel has been put on alert. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast a decrease in temperature for the next two days in the north-west parts of the country.

The Director of the Indian Meteorological Department, Mrityunjay Mohapatra has said that this low-pressure area has reached the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from South Bengal.

It will pass through Andaman and Nicobar and turn towards Myanmar and Bangladesh.

According to the Meteorological Department, first, there will be a thunderstorm with strong winds and it will intensify into a cyclonic storm.

On the other hand, India Meteorological Department scientist RK Jenamani said that there is a possibility of heavy rain with strong winds in Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Monday as the pressure over the Bay of Bengal is moving northwards.

Jenamani said that as of now it is a depression that will intensify into a deep depression by Monday morning and further intensify into a cyclonic storm by Monday evening.

If it emerges into a cyclonic storm then it will be known as Cyclone Asani.

IMD scientists told the news agency that till Saturday evening, the pressure over the Southeast and South Andaman Sea has started moving northwards at a speed of 12 kmph.

Depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal, approximately 200 km north-northeast of Car Nicobar (northern part of Nicobar Islands) and 100 km south-southeast of Port Blair (Andaman Islands).

Heavy rain will be due to strong winds.

According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in Andaman today can reach 65 kmph to 75 kmph. Its speed will increase further by evening.

There is a possibility of intensifying sea movements over the Andaman Sea, southeast and the east-central Bay of Bengal.

Apart from this, sea movements have intensified over East Central and adjoining Southwest and Northeast Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea.

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over the Andaman Islands on Monday. After this, heavy rain has been predicted.

Tight security arrangements for the people.

In view of the threat of the cyclonic storm, ships, aircraft, helicopters, disaster management team, etc. have been kept on alert.

Andaman administration says that there is a complete system of evacuation to avoid any situation. 100 personnel of the NDRF team have been deployed in 6 relief camps.

Coast Guard ships are taking the fishermen to the port. All inter-island services have been ordered to be canceled till March 22. All schools and colleges have also been closed in Andaman due to cyclones.
