Bilateral 2 + 2 Meetings Between India And US

Bilateral 2 + 2 meetings between India and US amidst tensions with China, talk on defense and security issue. India and the US held a bilateral 2 + 2 meetings on Friday through virtual mode.

During this interaction, both sides reviewed progress in bilateral relations in the defense, security, and foreign policy areas.

The meeting has been held at a time when tensions with China continue on the border in eastern Ladakh. The US has condemned China’s aggression and supported India.

In the past, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had targeted China, saying that from the Strait of Taiwan to the Himalayas and beyond, the Chinese Communist Party is engaged in threatening its neighbors.

At the same time, US intelligence agencies say that the latest attempts to encroach on the southern side of Pangong Lake, which extends from Tibet to Ladakh, is intended to deliberately provoke India.

The Pompeo also said that the US is currently partnering with countries such as India, Australia, Japan, and South Korea to push China back on all fronts.

Just last month, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar held talks with his US counterpart, Mike Pompeo, over a number of international issues over the phone. In the past, the US Secretary of State had said that China is testing the world whether anyone stands in front of its threat.

Meanwhile, Indian American MP Amy Berra tweeted, “I am concerned about the increasing tension on the Indo-China border and urge both countries to use their long-term diplomatic mechanism to improve the situation.

” In his tweet, he expressed concern over the presence of the army on the Line of Actual Control. He said that I am concerned about China’s activities from the South China Sea to the Line of Actual Control.

The MP said, “China should work closely with its neighbors while respecting international law to restore peace and resolve disputes with neighboring countries.”
