Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandavia has said that all the essential medicines related to the treatment of corona are available in sufficient quantity in the country.

He said that the government is constantly monitoring the supply of all the essential medicines of Corona. Along with the increase in the production of medicines related to corona, it is also being imported.

The government is mainly formulating its strategy keeping in mind the total demand, supply situation, and availability of these drugs.

The Department of Pharma is in constant contact with pharmaceutical producers to increase the production of these drugs.

Mandavia said that information about their production capacity estimated production and current stock is being sought from the pharmaceutical companies.

Remedesivir drug was first produced in 20 plants and now this plant is being produced in 60 plants. Due to this, the production of RemdesiVir has increased threefold in the last 24 days.

The production of ivermectin, a drug used in the treatment of corona, has increased five-fold in a month. In April this year, production of ivermectin was 150 lakh tablets, which increased to 770 lakhs in May.

Favipiravir production was 326.5 lakhs in April this year, which increased to 1644 lakhs in May.

According to the ministry, special monitoring is being done on the availability and production of nine types of medicines related to the treatment of corona.

The production and availability of a drug such as an azithromycin and paracetamol are also being reviewed.

According to sources, the government wants to keep track of the availability of medicines related to the treatment of Corona for the coming August. These include drugs such as enoxaparin, dexamethasone, tocilizumab, apixaban.
