Changes in CBI manual after 15 years, a chapter of cybercrime and investigation abroad added.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday released the new Crime Manual with few changes of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The CBI manual has been changed since 2005 and chapters on cybercrime and investigation abroad have been added to speed up the investigation.
Officials said that now investigation of branch level cases will have to be completed within six months and zone level cases within nine months, earlier its deadline was one year.
The agency, under the chairmanship of Additional Director Praveen Sinha, constituted a task force to make necessary changes in the manual.
The task force made the necessary changes after talks with former senior officials of the agency, law experts, and other concerned parties.
The new manual adds a chapter on the process of foreign affairs investigations and coordination with Interpol. Minister of Personnel, Pensions and Public Grievances Jitendra Singh congratulated the CBI for the change.
