United Nations President Donald Trump conferred Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘Legion of Merit’, a top US honor for his leadership in enhancing India’s and India’s strategic partnership.
US National Security Advisor Robert C. O’Brien gave this information. Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu accepted the medal on behalf of Prime Minister Modi.
O’Brien tweeted, “President Donald Trump, through his leadership of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, introduced a ‘Legion of Merit’ to enhance the strategic partnership of America-India.
Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu accepted the medal on behalf of PM Modi. Explain that on July 20, 1942, the Lease of Merit Medal was instituted by Congress.

On receiving this award to PM Modi, a statement was also issued by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, stating that the award was given for the leadership and vision of the PM’s continued leadership and India’s emergence as a global power.

It is awarded to the US Army, foreign military members, and political personalities who have displayed exceptional and commendable conduct in a display of outstanding services and achievements.
It is one of the highest military medals awarded to foreign officials. The ‘Legion of Merit’ medal is a white cross with a five-ray, which is held in red. It has a green wreath with a blue center with 13 white stars.
