Construction of Sharda Devi temple started near the Line of Control in Kashmir, the temple is built on the banks of the Kishanganga river.

In front of this temple, the construction of a grand temple of Mother Sharda Devi started on the banks of the Kishanganga river in the Titwal (Kupwara) sector adjacent to the Line of Control in North Kashmir.

The Sev Sharda Committee (SSC) is building the temple with the help of local citizens. Rocks and soil have also been brought from Sharda Peeth across the LoC for the temple.

Goddess Sharda was called the goddess of knowledge. Apart from Kashmiri Hindus, this holy pilgrimage place holds great importance for the followers of the Hindu religion.

It was not only an important religious place but also a huge educational center till the 12th century.

According to historians, the temple was built here during the Kushan Raj, but the current temple and education center was established during the time of Emperor Lalitaditya.

It was of great importance. Students from Bengal used to come here for education.

At present, there is a tradition among the Saraswat Brahmins of the South to walk seven steps towards Kashmir before starting education. It is seen by connecting it to Sharda Peeth.

Devotees used to take night rest: At the place where the temple is being constructed in Titwal, the devotees going to Sharda Peeth used to take night rest.

There is Sharda town across the Kishanganga river separating the Titwal sector from Ghulam Kashmir. Outside this town, there is a temple of Goddess Sharda Devi on the hill.

Granite will be used in the temple: SSC Chairman Ravindra Pandita told that the process of construction of the temple was started in December 2021.

At that time the foundation stone was laid. At the time of the Indo-Pak partition, the holy stick Mubarak used to leave for Sharda Peeth from the proposed temple construction site in Titwal.

The architecture and plan of the minister under construction at Titwal were approved by the Sringeri Peeth. Granite will be used in the temple.

The work of making sculptures, carvings on the granite stones used in the temple is going on in Karnataka, South India. He said that Sharda Peeth is a symbol of our Sanatan culture.

We have repeatedly urged the Center to contact the Government of Pakistan and establish the Shardapeeth Corridor.

If this corridor is built, then it will not only benefit Jammu and Kashmir but also the slave Kashmir. Devotees in large numbers will come to make the pilgrimage to Sharda Peeth.
