Cotton farmers block the road near Tirupati.

The police negotiated with the cotton farmers of Tirupati, saying that the way would be paved to fulfill their demand and therefore abandon the road blockade.

There is an Agricultural Farmers Cooperative Production Association in Madappalli Panchayat of the district. Cotton is auctioned annually at this association. Accordingly, cotton was auctioned this year.

It is customary for farmers from Krishnagiri, Ranipettai, Walaja, Ambur, Thiruvannamalai, Singarapettai, and various other places to sell their cotton to the Farmers’ Co-operative Marketing Association.

Last week, a quintal of cotton called RCH sold for Rs 15,000 as traders from various parts of Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Chennimalai, and Tamil Nadu competed.

In this context, the farmers who had brought the cotton this week, demanding a lower price should be raised.

The police where the information on this incident will be made in the compromise that their demands will be done to the cotton farmers.

However, peaceful cotton farmers have been involved in the struggle of the Commercial Agricultural Farmers Cooperative Society.
