CPI (M) Leader Reached SC Against New J&K Land law

CPI (M) leader reached Supreme Court against new land law in Jammu and Kashmir.

CPI (M) leader and former MLA Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami have reached the Supreme Court against the new land purchase law in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the order of the Union Home Ministry in October, any Indian citizen can now settle in Jammu and Kashmir and buy land there for housing and business.

The petition has sought a stay on this order from the Supreme Court.

The filing petition states that the orders have been brought under the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act and are illegal.

This law has already been challenged by many people.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has amended the provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Land Revenue Act 1996 related to the management of agricultural land.

And the Jammu and Kashmir Development Act 1970 related to the development of industrial and state infrastructure.

According to the petition, under the new law, agricultural land can no longer be sold to non-farmers but agricultural land can be converted into non-agricultural land under the rules set by the state government.

He said that the CLU (change in the use of land) rights of the land cannot be delegated to the officer up to the District Collector and in this case, there should be some control.

Four-time Kulgam MLA Tarigami has claimed that this amendment will change the use of land in Jammu and Kashmir and affect food security in Jammu and Kashmir.

The decision will be taken after the DDC elections

After abolishing Article 370 and 35A, new history is going to be made in Jammu and Kashmir.
