Director-General rank IPS officer suspended again, Jagan government’s decision: Andhra Pradesh.

The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday once again suspended AB Venkateswara Rao, an IPS officer of the rank of DGP, citing the pending investigation into a criminal charge against him.

State Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma said in an order late Tuesday that under sub-rule 3 of Rule 3 of the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969, the suspension was “till the conclusion of all proceedings relating to the charge”.

It is noteworthy that Venkateswara Rao was first suspended in February 2020 and was given a new posting earlier this month on the orders of the Supreme Court.

In 2020, the government had accused the 1989 batch IPS officer of criminal conspiracy and misuse of position in procuring security equipment for the state.

Director-General rank IPS officer suspended: A case was also registered against him under the Anti-Corruption Act.

The allegation pertains to the period when Venkateswara Rao was the head of the state intelligence wing during the previous Chandrababu Naidu government.

After a long legal battle, the aggrieved officer had obtained an order from the Supreme Court to revoke his suspension.

Karnataka: Woman got life imprisonment for killing 2-month-old daughter, now she will be released, know the reason.

The Karnataka High Court set aside a sessions court’s order awarding life imprisonment to a woman from Andhra Pradesh for the murder of her two-month-old daughter and ordered her release from jail.

Madhugiri, Additional District and Sessions Judge of Tumakuru district, on July 22, 2017, sentenced Kavita of Madakasira of Sri Sathyasai district of Andhra Pradesh to life imprisonment for murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

Kavita and her husband Manjunath had come to a hospital in Koratagere, Tumakuru, Karnataka to treat their baby girl suffering from respiratory problems and epilepsy.

Kavita was unable to even feed her baby milk.

The innocent girl was thrown into the river.

Manjunath complained to the local police that Kavita had dumped the girl in the Swarnamukhi river on the outskirts of the city on August 24, 2016.

After investigation and trial, in 2017 the lower court convicted the woman.

However, earlier this month, a bench of Justice K Somashekar and Justice Shivshankar Amarnavar in the High Court, allowing the woman’s appeal, rejected her conviction and acquitted her.

The bench said that the prosecution’s evidence should prove that the accused had killed the girl. But, no concrete evidence was provided by the prosecution to ensure the conviction of the accused.
