Djokovic reached quarter-finals of Belgrade Open tennis tournament: Belgrade Open 2021.
Novak Djokovic of Serbia, the world’s number one tennis player, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Belgrade Open tennis tournament on Tuesday by defeating Mats Moraing of Germany.
Djokovic beat Moraing, ranked 253rd in the world rankings, 6–2, 7–6 in consecutive sets. This is Jokovic’s 17th win this season.
In the quarter-finals, Djokovic will face Federico Correa of Argentina who beat Serco’s Marco Topo 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 in another match to advance to the quarter-finals.
Djokovic said, ‘This is a good start. I have never played against Moraing before. He took some shots which were excellent. ‘
This season Djokovic is playing a tournament in his home for the second time. He had earlier participated in the Serbia Open where he was eliminated from the tournament after losing to Aslan Karatsev in the semi-finals.
Ramkumar in second round, Prajnesh out.
India’s tennis player Ramkumar Ramanathan performed brilliantly in the French Open qualifiers to make it to the second round of the men’s singles on Tuesday, while other Indian player Prajnesh Gunneswaran was eliminated in the first round.
Ramkumar took an hour and 54 minutes in the first round of the match to beat American player Michael Moh 2–6, 7–6, 6–3 in the third set to advance to the next round.
They will next face Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan, who defeated Bosnia’s Damir Jumhar in a three-set match. He won this match 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
However, left-handed 32nd seed Prajnesh suffered a straight-set 2–2, 2–6 defeat against Oskar OT of Germany.
Football diary: Germany coach to take over after Euro 2020.
Flick Hansie Flick will take over as coach of Germany after the European Football Championship 2020.
Flick will replace current coach Joakim Low. The German Football Federation reported on Tuesday that Flick had signed a three-year contract that would take effect from July 1.
Flick has previously worked with Germany’s national football team as an assistant to Lo. Lou, who had said goodbye after Euro 2020, was associated with the team for 15 years.
