The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has put on hold the announcement of its squad for the training camp starting Saturday in Lahore and the ODI series against Afghanistan in Sri Lanka next month.

Afghanistan is facing its worst crisis in two decades since the Taliban took over. In such a situation, the PCB wants the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to confirm that the series will take place.

The team will be announced only after that. The series is scheduled to start on September 3 in Hambantota, Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan Board (SLC) will host the matches on behalf of ACB.

An official said that Afghanistan cricket officials are yet to confirm when their players will leave for Colombo from Kabul and the schedule of matches has not been announced.

Along with this, he also said that as soon as the information related to the series is received, the camp will be organized and the team will also be announced.

According to the information, ACB is in talks with Taliban and US troops, who are controlling all aircraft at Kabul airport.

A senior Afghan cricket official said they would soon get permission and information on how and when their players would fly from Kabul to Colombo.

Senior players including Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan and pacers, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi are expected to be rested for the series.

Doubts over the ODI series between Pakistan and Afghanistan: This is the first bilateral series between the two countries.

These four players are being rested to refresh themselves for the home series against New Zealand and England and the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Afghanistan is also included in the participating countries in the T20 World Cup.
