DRDO Successfully Test-fired Indigenously Built Anti-tank Missile

DRDO and Indian Army successfully test-fired indigenously built tank destroyer missile.

India’s Defense Research and Development Organization and the Indian Army successfully test-fired an indigenously built anti-tank missile at the KK range in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra on Tuesday.

This information has been given by the Ministry of Defense. The statement of the ministry said that the tank destroyer guided missile (ATGM) was successfully test-fired from the Arjun battle tank.

“In the test, the ATGM struck the target with utmost precision and destroyed it,” it said. The telemetry system recorded the satisfactory flight performance of the missile.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO and the Indian Army for the successful test-fire of the ATGM, the statement said.

He said that this is a milestone for the country and it will help in increasing the strength of the army. Therefore, all the people associated with this project are eligible for congratulations.

According to media reports, it is being told that in this test, the ATGM was successful in hitting its target with great accuracy.

DRDO and the Indian Army fired the missile from the Main Battle Tank Arjun in the KK range. It was tested on June 28 with the support of the Armed Corps and the school.

During the test, the missile hit the target accurately. Enemies can be killed to the maximum extent through this missile.

The satisfactory performance of the missile was recorded through a telemetry system.

The ATGM has been developed with multi-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation trials with a 120 mm rifled gun of MBT Arjun.

Officials said the Laser Guided ATGM has the capability to defeat protected armored vehicles within a range of 1.5 to 5 km.

Achieving targets at lower ranges is a challenge due to the dimensional constraints of tank-launched ATGMs, which have been successfully accomplished by ATGMs for the MBT Arjun.

With the trial, the capability of the ATGM to engage targets from minimum to maximum has been established. Earlier tests have been successful for the maximum range.
